Mein Bedarf an Schleifmitteln ist im Moment recht hoch. In gleichem Maß gilt das auch für die Handcreme. Von der ich in den letzten Tagen gar nicht so viel auftragen konnte, wie Bedarf war. Das Schleifen der vielen kleinen Teile fordert seinen Tribut. So auch wieder beim nächsten Werkzeug, einem Sapie. Mit diesem Werkzeug werden Stämme beim Holzrücken bewegt. Es ist wie bei Axt und Beil, in handlicher Einhand-Ausführung, als auch für beidhändigen Einsatz verfügbar. Ich baue hier die lange Variante für Holzstämme, aber eine Sapieaxt wäre schon noch ein schönes Werkzeug, für auf die Toyota Ladefläche…😏

Zunächst einmal das Original, das sicher einige noch nie gesehen haben. Durch die spitze Schnabelform kann Holz eingehakt und versetzt werden. Auch durch einrammen der Spitze in die Holzoberfläche, lässt sich etwas bewegen.

Der Stiel ist deutlich länger als der einer Axt und wurde beim Nachbau wieder mit der Laubsäge aus einer 5 mm starkem Buchenleiste gesägt. Dessen Werdegang ist mit der bereits vorgestellten Forstaxt aus dem Teil 2 identisch, nur eben in Länge und Form modifiziert. Nachfolgend das noch unscheinbare Ergebnis…

Aus Forex und einem Kunststoffrest entstanden Spitze und Werkzeugkopf. Auf dem Koordinatentisch wurde in den Kopf eine 2 mm Fuge eingepasst. Die darinsitzende Spitze wurde zudem etwas ausgeklinkt, um eine stabilen Sitz in der Klebestelle zu schaffen.

Für die Forstaxt habe ich auch noch einen Ersatzstiel gebaut, zur Sicherheit. Natürlich auch weil es Spaß bereitet, wenn aus einem Holzstreifen ein realistisches Teil entsteht. Was hier noch fehlt, ist der finale Holzschutz, den ich in den nächsten Tagen noch aufstreiche.

Manufacture of loads and tools, Part 3-Sapie

My need for abrasives is quite high at the moment. The same goes for hand cream. I haven’t been able to apply as much of it as I needed in the last few days. Sanding the many small parts takes its toll. This is also the case with the next tool, a Sapie. This tool is used to move logs when moving wood. As with axe and hatchet, it is available in a handy one-handed version, as well as for two-handed use. I’m building the long version here for logs, but a sapie axe would still be a nice tool to have on the Toyota truck bed…😏

First of all, the original, which I’m sure some have never seen before. The pointed beak shape allows wood to be hooked and moved. Also by ramming the tip into the wood surface, something can be moved.

The handle is much longer than that of an axe and was again sawn with a fretsaw from a 5 mm thick beech strip. Its construction is identical to the forestry axe already presented in part 2, only modified in length and shape. Below the still inconspicuous result…

The tip and the tool head were made from forex and a plastic scrap. A 2 mm gap was fitted into the head on the coordinate table. The tip was also slightly notched to create a stable fit in the glue joint.

I also built a spare handle for the forestry axe, for safety. Of course it’s fun to make a realistic piece out of a strip of wood. What is still missing here is the final wood protection, which I will paint on in the next few days.
